Christina Lauren. You love everything else the author has written, you preorder and auto-buy new releases, and you anxiously watch the calendar waiting for new titles to appear on your Kindle. And you start reading. You try. You keep making up excuses and hoping the second half is better than the first.
I quite enjoyed this part of the book. One of the best parts involved a curious dog and something he ate. I laughed out loud in the middle of the night during that scene. It's just too bad it took so long to get to the good parts. The books written by this pair since this book have all been wonderful, so for me this was just an anomaly which I guess is bound to happen when you read so many by the same authors.
I do highly recommend anything else by these authors, I just can't recommend this one. See all reviews from the United States. Top international reviews. I was so looking forward to reading this book.
I had it on pre order for months. I'm a massive fan of Christina Lauren but this book didn't seem to have their feel on it. It was like reading another authors book. I felt it was confusing in the beginning keeping up with all the characters that were introduced as they were all brought in about the same time.
The story didn't feel strong to carry through.
It was very putdownable. I wanted to continue on just to see if I got to see a glimmer of Christina Lauren but was left feeling really disappointed. All their previous books have been brilliant and I even re read some and Also bought the audio. This book is easily forgettable. I really hope their next project goes back to their sassy genius writing making us swoon and laugh at the same time.
Thank you for your feedback.
Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again. I know, classic Kirsty. I'm in the middle of a slump and I read 2 books in one day then go back to not reading anything. I had to take the day off work because I couldn't sleep at all, which isn't good when you work in accounts.
Immediately after finishing these 2 books in the same day I went back to being in a slump. Carter and Evie start dating after their friends set them up at a Halloween party as the only single people they know. They both work for entertainment agencies but somehow try to make it work.
That is until their companies have a merger making them in competition for the same jobs. It all goes a bit tits up for their romance.

I love office romances so this one was super up my street. I watch a fair few office romance Kdramas and I love reading them whenever it's in a book.
I think what I really enjoyed with this book was that it wasn't your standard hate to love or forbidden romance, this was love to hate to love which was a whole different ball game.
You know what the couple is like as a couple then they're not anymore and there's just so much tension. I love it. For me though, the best part of this book is the constant discussion of how women are treated in the workplace. Whether it be the leading lady talking about it to her friends or the main man becoming increasingly more aware of how the world works for women.
It was so good to read in a romance. This is my third Christina Lauren novel and I really want to read everything else because this cemented how much I enjoy their writing and their characters. There's just something about their style of writing that really pulls you in.
Like me being in a huge slump but still managing to read 2 of their books in one day. Absolutely love Christina Lauren and was so excited for this to be released, but I felt so disappointed by this book. There are flashes of the humour and the brilliant relationships from their other books, and I enjoyed the acknowledgement of the casual and not so casual sexism in their business, but to me it felt like endless pages of filler with very few moments of interest.
In addition the ending was so glaringly signposted from halfway through I found myself irritated by the characters inability to pick up on it.
Still a huge fan of CL, just hoping for more from "Roomies". So disappointed! Love all the other CL books and so had this on pre-order and was excited to read it.

However all the elements that I love from Christina Lauren seem sadly missing. We all love the sexy, romantic, gorgeous lovers having a red hot romp at every opportunity. With a great story line throwing them together and keeping the pages turning. This has none of that - if you like banal office poiltics and dull repetitive "Hi-jinks" according to the blurb you'll be fine, but this turns out to be "who messed with my make-up?
If I wanted this I would just go to work anyway, and lets face it, thats what we are all trying to escape from!! The title is very misleading as the characters are not really dating and neither are they hating, just sort of droning on, with the odd "wow - there's sexism in the workplace! Again, I know all about this, surprisingly, the rest of us, unlike the hero in this novel, are totally aware of it's existance, perhaps we want something else from our escapist fantasy novel!
I found myself constantly flicking forward to see if anything exciting was going to happen soon - like they actually get round to having a kiss! No such luck, really wanted to give up reading - when they finally got round to it, I had lost interest and didn't find the love scenes anywhere near as great as the previous books.
Save your money on this - I'm going back to reread "Wild Seasons". Will seriously consider whether or not to buy CL's next ones as they seem to be taking a left turn into dull and mundane!

What I really loved, is that it didnt start out as an enemies to lovers story/5.
After reading the first two chapters of this book I wanted to give up the will to live! I was so bored and was going to just delete it from my device and choose another book.
However, I hate wasting money so decided to carry on reading. It did get marginally more interesting along the way and I managed to finish it, but romance, sex and predictable storyline plots are not my thing, especially if it includes the LA whole false lifestyle going on including plastic surgery! I won't be buying any more books in this series.

Arriving at their workplaces - shortly after a hot date that promised hot sex in the near future, they learn their rival agencies have merged, friends and colleagues have been let-go, and Evie and Carter must compete to keep their coveted positions in the new company. Well, it was. Cartie is dreamy - hot, funny, sexy and charming; Evie is fierce - smart, intense, witty and wonderful.
Life in the industry has taught Evie hard lessons about ageism, sexism and cutthroat business practices and Evie immediately erects defensive walls between her and Carter. Their burgeoning love affair quickly unravels - exploited by their evil boss - devolving into a war of second-guessing, paranoia, Big Misunderstandings, and hilarious sabotage.

Dating You/Hating You abruptly goes dark, deep and and ugly. Evie's (old) and Carter's (new) boss is a sexist pig (and a major asshole), and it's clear to Evie from the moment they're pitted against each other that Carter - barring any major missteps - is in and she's out. The novel travels along fairly predictable paths from here. These ARE big issues and they deserve our time and attention - unfortunately, they overwhelm this romantic novel.
But Hollywood and the business of celebrity are supremely unappealing and everything about that world is a total turn-off. I struggled to grade the book. This was the opposite.
They were sweet together and starting to get vulnerable and bam! Good review! Blackjack - I can see the comparison and why. The chemistry between the principals really sparkles - much like The Hating Game.
